Fishing & Field SportsStrathspey Estate offers a range of field sports – primarily salmon fishing, but also by arrangement red deer and roe deer stalking, and grouse shooting. Fishing The River Spey needs little introduction as one of Scotland's best known Salmon rivers. On the Castle Grant beats, just down from Grantown on Spey the Estate has 3 of the best Salmon beats on the river. As the season progresses fish are usually spread throughout the entire system and this middle section has proved to be very popular with anglers. Catches are possible at all times during the season from Mid-February to the end of September. Each beat has double bank fishing ensuring exclusive use in a quiet setting and in beautiful and often very varying surroundings. Our full-time ghillies on each beat will offer all guests whether beginners or experienced anglers a warm Speyside welcome. Our ghillies have a wide local knowledge of the river and its surroundings and are always happy to share their knowledge with guests and to assist those in need. Access to the water is excellent and vehicles may be taken along the private beat roads to within metres of most pools. Boats are provided to help cover some of the water and to ease access to the opposite bank. Each of the 3 Castle Grant beats has its own well-appointed fishing hut, providing facilities including w.c, hot and cold water, cooker, fridge, heaters and barbecue. Family and friends and non-fishing guests are always welcome to use the facilities and to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, scenery and wildlife.
